Newspaper clippings published in the Boston Journal, 1849-1850. Inscribed: "A series of letters by John H. Sheppard, Esq., 1849-1850, preserved in scrap book made by author. Maine Historical Society with compliments of Joseph Wood, Portland, Me., June 18, 1909, 'twas sixty years since." Articles are signed by "A stranger in Boston." His travels in Maine included Portland, Brunswick, Bath, Wiscasset, Westport, Boothbay, Pemaquid, Bristol, and Pownalborough. Also includes information about Commodore Samuel Tucker.
